Staff report CNHI The Times Enterprise Tue Mar 01, 2011, 11:00 PM EST

THOMASVILLE —
Thomas County Central’s girls soccer team remained undefeated Tuesday evening.

Playing its cross-county rival, Central pitched its fourth-straight shutout, blanking Thomasville 3-0.

Ivey Singletary scored two goals to lead Central. Meka Revels added one.

“We dominated,” Central coach Courtney Sofferin said. “We played most of the game in Thomasville’s half.”

Central finished with 20 shots on goal.

The win was extremely significant for Sofferin, a one-time standout player for the Lady Bulldogs. She coached for the first time against her former coach at Thomasville, Martha Murray.

“It was interesting. It was hard at first but I’m a Jacket now,” Sofferin said

Central girls blast Bainbridge

Staff report CNHI The Times Enterprise

THOMASVILLE — Thomas County Central’s girls had little trouble in their Region 1-AAAA opener Thursday.

Hosting rival Bainbridge, Central (5-0) used a balanced scoring attack to pound the Lady Bearcats 10-0.

Alyssa Denton, Aubree Denton and Kaeci Guyton paced Central’s offense with two goals each.

Jordan Smith, Meka Revels, Kaylee Shaver and Ashley Ramirez each added a goal for Central.

For Shaver and Ramirez, it was their first goals in varsity action.

“We did dominate from the start,” Central coach Courtney Sofferin said.

“It ended up being a mercy rule (finish)."

Central’s next region match will be on Tuesday at Lee County.

Notching that first region victory of the season was a big win for Central, which has still not allowed a goal this season.

“It is definitely nice to have a region win,” Sofferin said.

Central will return to the field today at home against Lowndes at 7 p.m.
